A heart-wrenching story of a dog named Yogi has recently emerged in Ahmedabad, a bustling city in India. Yogi was spotted in a neighborhood, scavenging for food and weaving through streets and marketplaces in a desperate attempt to survive. When a kind-hearted family noticed her plight, they knew she needed rescue.
Yogi, estimated to be around five years old, was in a pitiful state. She was emaciated, with hardly any fur covering her raw and scabbed skin due to severe mange. Despite the family’s best efforts, they were unable to catch her and provide immediate help. Determined to save Yogi, they reached out to RRSA India, an animal rescue organization, for assistance.
The rescuers from RRSA India responded promptly and joined the family in their efforts to catch Yogi. However, Yogi proved to be elusive and evaded capture multiple times. It took a week of relentless effort before the rescuers finally managed to catch her, but by then, her health had deteriorated significantly.
Yogi was in a dire condition and lacked the strength to fight back when the rescuers caught her. Her skin was raw, and she had multiple wounds, including a deep wound on her ear that was infected with maggots. It was evident that she had suffered from severe neglect and needed urgent medical attention.
We take a lot of hard cases … but I honestly thought she was going to die,” said one of the rescuers. Despite the challenging situation, the rescuers wasted no time in providing Yogi with the care she desperately needed. She was admitted to RRSA Shelter, where the veterinary team started her treatment immediately.
.
Yogi’s treatment included medicated baths, massages, and injectables and oral supplements to combat her mange and infections. The staff at RRSA Shelter worked tirelessly to nurse her back to health, applying medicated lotion to soften her skin and treating her wounds with ivermectin and antibiotics
Winning Yogi’s trust was a slow and patient process for the shelter staff. She had experienced neglect for a long time and was understandably fearful of humans. But with gentle care, compassion, and constant medical attention, Yogi’s condition gradually improved.
Yogi’s journey to recovery is ongoing, and the dedicated efforts of RRSA India and the caring family who first noticed her plight are a testament to the power of compassion and rescue. With continued care and support, it is hoped that Yogi will soon be able to experience the love and care she deserves in a forever home. Her story serves as an inspiration to never give up on animals in need and to always extend a helping hand to those who cannot speak for themselves.
