When we witness the heartbreaking situation of neglected and homeless dogs, it’s difficult not to be moved to tears. But the truth is, not all mother dogs possess the unwavering strength, bravery, and devotion to their offspring that Si Bao embodies.
This dog was left behind by her owner and unfortunately, had a terrible accident where her hind legs were severely injured by a passing train. This incident left Si Bao in a state of hopelessness until she gave birth to four adorable and healthy puppies. These little ones became the sole motivation for the mother dog to keep going despite her difficulties.
Si Bao rediscovered the joy of life after becoming a parent and adopted a resilient and determined approach to looking after her children. She walked on two legs and kept a close eye on her little ones at all times.
Si Bao’s fortunate streak continued with the help of Animals Asia, a charitable organization founded by Jill Robinson. The heroic mother dog and her family were rescued by the organization, and Si Bao has been chosen as an animal ambassador. He has now been relocated to the organization’s headquarters where he and his surviving child, Muddie, can start a new life instead of scrounging for food scraps near the train tracks.
In addition, it has been decided to change Si Bao’s name to Lelly. The organization is also looking into fitting her with prosthetic legs on wheels to improve her mobility. Sadly, out of the four pups that were rescued alongside Lelly, three passed away due to a severe fever. Only Muddie survived.
Lelly is enjoying a luxurious lifestyle as an ambassador for Animals in Asia.
Despite her small size, Lelly demonstrates an unwavering spirit that refuses to be defeated by adversity.
