Our urge to look and adore little baby puppies as soon as they are born can sometimes be hard to control. However, there are more important paws to which we need to put our attention towards.
The mother who gave birth to the pups did a lot of hard work to bring them into this world; therefore, she deserves all the observation and love.
Unfortunately, this mother pup didn’t really experience that.
Here’s the story of Dory, an abandoned dog mom who made sure to stay strong in order to save her puppies.
A Family In Need
Dory, a five-year-old Boxer, gave birth to nine beautiful little pups and, instead of being nurtured for giving this world nine new reasons to smile, she ended up being completely abandoned.
When somebody came across them in a church parking lot in Abilene, Texas, they immediately posted them on social media, hoping that somebody who was able to help would reach out.
Not long afterward, Paw Angel Animal Rescue (PAAR) saw the photo of this abandoned family and were more than willing to help.
I saw the picture and it just broke my heart, and I called Angel, and we went and rescued the dogs, said Misty Boerger.
She and her dog-loving friend, Angel Urban, got in a car and set out looking for them.
When they did manage to locate them, scared Dory was found cuddling up with her nine pups. Her puppies were no older than two weeks, and as much as their mom was trying to keep them safe and sound, she needed some help.
The pups seemed okay, but Dory did show some injuries.
We found lots of wounds on her that were opened and draining, said Urban.
Road To Recovery
They carefully loaded them into the back seat of the car and took them to the vet for treatment and checkups.
All of Dory’s wounds were treatable, but unfortunately, the vet found out that one of the pups had a more serious injury.
This pup, who was named Peach, was discovered to have a tumor in her throat. The tumor was keeping her from nursing properly, making it hard to swallow. As she grew, so would it, and since she was so small, surgical intervention was not possible.
Sadly, Peach had to be euthanized.
PAAR posted on their Facebook, sharing the devastating news.
Losing one of their own did leave this fluffy family shaken up. Luckily, with all of the help and love from the rescue, they were able to heal both physically and emotionally in no time.
New Life
Thankful for all of the support and donations, PAAR posted an update on how the family is doing and how the pups have grown so much.
Three of the pups have already found their forever home, full of love and adoration.
At the time of writing this article, Dory and the others are still living with their foster mom, Boerger, enjoying each passing day with each other full of playdates and cuddles.
Final Word
If you find yourself in the situation where after your dog has given birth, you can no longer give her what she needs, please do not give up on her so easily.
Your local shelter will happily take them in, care for them, and find them a new home in which they will be loved and adored. They deserve that!
