A conservation worker was caught on camera administering medical treatment to an elephant, and the gentle giant was unfazed by the procedure.
The astonishing footage was recorded at the Elephant Rescue Centre in Botswana.
Jabu lies down on command before allowing the worker to walk directly towards him and squeeze ointment into his eye.
In the video, Jabu can be seen striding across the sandy terrain towards the worker.
The worker raises his hand and places it on the mammal’s leg before calmly saying: ‘Jabu, lie down.’
There is a brief pause before the elephant does exactly as he is asked and bends his back legs to collapse himself to the ground.
He stretches his front legs out in front of him and flops down onto his side.

After the ordeal, both the keeper and the woman behind the camera offer words of encouragement to the patient.
The gentle giant playfully waits with his mouth open for an extra treat, to which the keeper obliges with several handfuls of nuts.
He pats Jabu’s trunk and begins to walk away, letting him know that he can now stand up.
The elephant heaves himself to his feet and the video comes to an end shortly after.

While the footage was originally recorded in December, it has recently resurfaced online.
The caretakers at the rescue center, which is overseen by the Living with Elephants Foundation, had observed that Jabu was suffering from a watery eye and decided to treat it by administering three doses of antibiotics daily.
Jabu, who is the dominant male of the herd, was left orphaned in Kruger National Park, South Africa, during a culling operation.
At present, he is 31 years old, stands at a towering 11.4 feet (3.5 meters), and weighs 5.5 tons.
However, in addition to his eye ailment, he is also grappling with a wrist injury and osteoarthritis stemming from a tussle with a wild bull in 2016 over status.
Jabu and his herd mates are slated to be featured in an upcoming TV series called Dodo Heroes on Animal Planet this June.
