Our Babe Of The Month: The Vivacious Veronica Velvet

Meet our newest babe here on Rod Authority, the lovely Miss Veronica Velvet. This bombshell Bettie enjoys getting in front of the camera as much as she loves performing live on stage. She’s gearing up this month for the biggest rockabilly event Viva Las Vegas where she will be performing at Audrey Deluxe’s Burlesque Bingo.

So with no further ado, here is Rod Authority’s Babe Of The Month for April 2019, enjoy!

Name: Veronica Velvet

Sign: Virgo

Hometown: Palmdale, California

Current Residence: Palmdale, California

Hair Color: Black

Eye Color: Brown

What do you love most about the car culture?

I love and appreciate the build! It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to build a car from the ground up and I just love seeing what all the different car clubs create. It’s really neat to see everyone in the car culture share the same appreciation.

Favorite classic car:

I love the 59’ coupe Deville, but I’m also drawn to the customs and ’30s rat trucks

Last car show you attended:

Grand National Roadster Show

Top 3 events on your bucket list:

1. The Mooneyes Japan show

2. High Rockabilly in Spain

3. Tiki Kon in Portland, Oregon

Tell us about your burlesque shows:

I’ve been performing in the Seduction shows produced by Bobbie Burlesque at Harvelles in Long Beach, California for about 4 years now. I’ve also been a Burlesque Bingo girl for Audrey Deluxe for about 8 or 9 years, with shows all over including Viva Las Vegas!

Last venue you performed at:

I last performed with the Hula Girls at the Pacific Seas bar inside Clifton’s Cafeteria.

Any upcoming shows?

Yes! April 17-21 – Viva Las Vegas

Do you have a favorite place you like to perform:

I love performing at Viva Las Vegas! There’s always such good energy from the crowd and with tons of familiar faces!

If you could perform on any stage where would it be and why:

Ooooh, probably inside the Orleans showroom at Viva! It’s such an incredibly large stage that has had phenomenal performances by so many talented people! I don’t know that I would ever take the time to make it happen, but it would definitely be dreamy!

Favorite music to dance to:

Anything really! But if I had to pick a favorite it would be ’60s surf music, and we can probably blame the Hula Girls for that one!

Favorite event or car show:

I love Mooneyes! I love that it’s Christmas-y and that there’s drag races too!

Favorite band:

That question is too hard! I love so many bands and listen to such a wide variety of music. One day it’s Johnny Horton, the next day its Rob Zombie, then it’s Lana Del Rey, LOL.

Favorite band to see live: I saw No Doubt play once, and I would go again and again if I could! I’ll be seeing Gwen Stefani soon though; it’s as close as I’m going to get.

Favorite tiki bar:

My favorite was for sure Don the Beachcomber, but the best bar still standing has to be the MaiKai in Florida, definitely an incredible place!

Mitzi Valenzuela

Mitzi is a Southern California gal who loves shooting classic cars with pinup girls. You may have seen some of her work featured in a number of publications or in the pinup calendar she produces every year that is sold worldwide. She loves traveling to different car shows around the world and have been fortunate to visit places like Japan and Australia.

Starting life in Las Vegas, it would be hard for Hazel-eyed, Abby Dandy to settle down into the 9-to-5 rituals of a normal, workaday metropolis. She loves the anytime, day or night availability of Sin City and fancies herself a purveyor of some of the town’s hidden gems.

Acting and “putting on a show” always came easy for Abby and she shows us she not only has the chops for the leading role but also the curves. Her adventurous character carries her around the globe and her kind spirit endears her with all who are fortunate enough to get to know her. Check out our latest Babe Of The Month, Abby Dandy, and you’ll see why she’s a babe, not only during her birth month (her birthday is this Saturday – July 25th) but throughout each turn of the calendar!

What do you enjoy most about living in Las Vegas? I love the 24-hour convenience of the city AND the hidden, natural beauty of the landscape.

How did you get into modeling? I grew up in the theatre and eventually transitioned into burlesque. As a way to promote me and express myself, I started modeling. Over time, it grew into a passion that I have fueled over the years. My parents will tell you though, I was NEVER shy. When I was a child, I would put on “The Abby Show” in our backyard. Once, I even fired my dad from the show, haha!  Sorry dad, it’s show business!

What’s your favorite classic car? I’m pretty basic with this one. I want Don Draper’s car! A 1965 Coupe DeVille, please.

Who is your favorite classic Hollywood starlet and why? Lauren Bacall. It’s difficult to pick just one favorite starlet, but Ms. Bacall’s sultry demeanor and headstrong personality call to me. Not to mention her famous romance with Mr. Bogart…

What are you most passionate about? Being kind. I truly believe that the most important thing in this world is to be kind.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I enjoy video games, playing dungeons and dragons (check me and my buds out on Twitch @arthardstudios), and forgetting to water my houseplants.

Any new hobbies you’ve taken up during quarantine? I practice ballet more regularly now that I actually have time to devote to a practice! That’s nice!

Favorite travel destination? I visited the big island of Hawaii last August and it was a real adventure! I would love to travel to Australia next, or perhaps connect with my familial roots in Ireland.

Favorite road trip destination? Disneyland! I’ll need to have someone else willing to drive through. I have to be ready to tell you fun facts about Disneyland on the trip!

Do you prefer a night out dancing, listening to live music or a fancy dinner out? I actually would prefer a nice seafood dinner (think linguini and clams) and then a lovely intimate evening in a jazz club, listening to someone like Kurt Elling. Actually, yeah. That’s my dream date! I just realized!

What do you miss being able to do the most since quarantine? I miss hugs. Big deep hugs where you smell the sweat and warmth of the person you are hugging and nothing else matters.

What do you enjoy most about burlesque? I enjoy the give and take with the audience. I love the energy of entertaining!

How long have you been a performer? My entire life! I’ve always enjoyed the glow of attention, and I eventually fine-tuned that skill during my stints in community theatre. Eventually, by way of more professional theatre productions, I found my way to burlesque!

What’s your favorite song to dance to? I love dancing with a live jazz or blues band- the electricity of live music is just simply magical. Short of live music, I really enjoy dancing to more stylized music- I love “Never There” by Cake, or “Momma Sed” by Puscifer.

Describe your style? Funny Femme Fatale. Lipschtick, if you will.

Where can we see more of Abby Dandy? Follow me on Instagram @abbydandy_ for updates on all upcoming burlesque shows, information about my fan page, and much, much more! xoxo

Babe Of The Month: Meet The Amazing Anabel Miramontes

By Mitzi Valenzuela June 19, 2020

We’re coming in hot! Even for the month of June with our newest Babe of the Month, hailing from the City of Sin. Meet Anabel Miramontes, a native to the twinkling city in the desert. Anabel loves living life to the fullest by taking in all Vegas has to offer – the fantastic food to the energetic nightlife. Anabel enjoys dancing the night away.

Name: Anabel Miramontes

Sign: Taurus Sun, Aries Rising, Capricorn Moon

Hometown: Las Vegas, NV

Current Residence: Las Vegas, NV

Occupation: Hospitality

How did you get into pinup modeling? I began pinup modeling after I won Miss Rockabilly Rod Reunion 2005. I had been a fan of the culture for many years but something changed in 2005 and I felt called to participate, which brought me to the competition. I met so many wonderful people on that journey. I could not wait to dive more deeply into the community. It’s given so much back to me over the years and even though I no longer actively compete, I will carry these relationships and values with me for the rest of my life.

Describe your style? My fashion style varies greatly over a broad range of music and moods; from vintage glamour, contemporary clubwear, goth, and a range of costume wear. You can find me in anything from classic-vintage glamour to sparkling bodysuits and roller skates. I’ve been lucky to participate in so many phenomenal cultures over the years that you might see me in literally anything depending on the day. Everything depends on the occasion!

What’s your favorite classic car? The Talbot Lago T-150C, it has these absolutely phenomenal curves that are neither masculine nor feminine. It is absolutely spectacular in every way and has stood the test of time for over 100 years. It speaks so deeply to the art deco aesthetic that I appreciate from that era. Quite honestly, if you look at any objects from the 1920s through the late 30s, whether they be cars, buildings, or fine jewelry, I love it all. I take every chance I get to give those lines and shapes new life because I want to expose as many people as possible to these designs I adore.

Do you have a favorite car show you like attending? I most often frequent Viva Las Vegas, which constantly presents me with an opportunity to reconnect with people from around the world. The combination of close friends and the beautiful pieces that they bring to the city is absolutely intoxicating. Those are some of the days and nights which I most look forward to throughout the year. That being said, I have always wanted to attend any variant of the Concours d’Elegance. The sheer diversity of art on display absolutely resonates with me and it’s something I hope to accomplish in the next few years.

What was the last car show you attended? Viva Las Vegas 2019. We had entirely too much fun reconnecting and growing this fabulously diverse community. It’s such a treasure to see everyone each year. Going beyond the parties, I treasure the brief moments, one to one, or in a small group where deeply-passionate people can share the communal love they have for these vehicles.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? After thirty years in this city, I feel absolutely connected to every single part of it. Whether grabbing cocktails with my friends on the strip, toasting the town and dancing the night away at any one of a hundred different venues, roller skating downtown, or Tetris on my Super NES with those I love dearest, there is absolutely no excuse to be bored here in Las Vegas!

Favorite place to have a cocktail in Las Vegas? The SkyyBar at Waldorf Astoria. The cocktails are strong and it is hands down the best view in Las Vegas of the entire strip. Situated 24 floors up but still somewhat of a hidden gem, it’s the number one spot to take people when they come to visit.

Favorite venue for live music? Hands down, Rose Rabbit Lie. We have such phenomenal venues here in Las Vegas for concerts, but the team at this small bar inside the Cosmopolitan brings it every single night. Between the singers, dancers, and musicians, it’s easy to lose an entire night drinking old-fashioneds and dancing your heart out.

Favorite club to go dancing? This one is actually a tie! There are so many places to burn your legs out in this city but I love Marquee, XS, and Drai’s After Hours the most. With or without a table, it’s almost impossible to have a bad time at any of the three.

What’s your favorite music to dance to? I can’t pick a single genre. At any given moment, it is whatever makes my soul sing. I can’t rule anything out.

Describe your perfect date? Fantastic food. Stimulating conversation. Belly laughs. Live music. Dancing until dawn.

What are you doing to pass the time during the lockdown? Finally catching up on some sleep, reading a ton of books, and doing my best to watch everything on Netflix.

Netflix, Disney, or Turner Classics? Hmm, out of the three, definitely Netflix. It has the most variety and sparks the most provocative conversations between all my friends since everyone can watch the same things.

What is the first thing you are going to do when this is all over? Have a fantastic dinner with my boyfriend, find some live music, and dance the night away.

What would you be doing this weekend if you didn’t have to stay at home? Friday we would likely head to Rose Rabbit Lie followed by Marquee. Saturday I would catch up on my sleep before getting ready for XS, and Sunday night would be a nice dinner followed by cocktails with friends.

Babe Of The Month: Meet The Audacious Ashley Atwood

By Mitzi Valenzuela April 15, 2020

Our April Babe of the Month grew up in a small town in Texas but has made California her home after pursuing her dreams of acting. Miss Ashley Atwood’s favorite classic car is a 57 T-Bird a daily driver for her family when she was growing up.

It’s time to meet our latest Babe of the Month here on Rod Authority. Pinup Ashley Atwood has been making her mark in the Sunshine State since her move from small-town living in Texas. Miss Ashley Atwood made the move to pursue an acting career, and has subsequently enjoyed some modeling as well.

Miss Atwood’s favorite classic car happens to be a ’57 T-bird because of the memories she has with her family’s daily driver. To find out the whole story, read on, and let’s get to know Rod Authority’s Babe Of The Month for April 2020!

Name: Ashley Atwood

Sign: Aquarius

Hometown: Bryan, TX

Current Residence: Los Angeles, CA

Eye color: Green

Hair Color: Blonde

Favorite Classic Car: 1957 T-Bird

If you could own any car what would it be and why?: Probably that 57 T-Bird. My family loved classics growing up, and we had a Thunderbird Blue T-Bird. My parents brought me home from the hospital when I was born in that car. It would be cool to see it come full circle.

What was the last car show you attended?: I went to Cruisin for a Cure in Costa Mesa where I had my 2nd photo shoot with Mitzi.

What do you love most about the pinup style?: I love how Pinup embraces my curves. Most modeling requires a stick figure and that’s not what God blessed me with. That, plus the vintage cars or airplanes I get to pose with. It’s fun being transported back in time.

Tell us about yourself?: I’m pretty complicated, how much time do you have? I’m very Type A, so I like things done in a very specific way. I’m also an artist, so both sides of my brain are always in conflict!

Tell us about your recent acting projects?: Well, due to the COVID-19 crisis, a lot of my most recent projects have been postponed. However, I did shoot a Christmas Film called Rekindling Christmas, right before the big lockdown that should be out for Christmas 2020. If you want to pick up some of my other movies, there’s Hell on the Border, a Western starring Robert Perlman, David Gyasi, and Frank Grillo, or pick up an action flick called The Poison Rose starring John Travolta, and Morgan Freeman. Also, be on the lookout for a little Web-Series I’m producing called Wild Wild Yogis. It should come out on YouTube this summer.

What are three things you are passionate about?: Well, my career will take the cake most of the time. I love my family, and then lastly, I’d have to say food. I love food. A LOT.

What do you enjoy doing on your free time?: I love the Beach. Jumping in the water for a swim then chillin’ on my towel reading a book is an ideal summer day for me!

Do you prefer to cook at home or eat out?: Honestly, I prefer eating out. As I said earlier, I love food. A nice bottle of wine with multiple courses is a great night out for me. That said, I do enjoy baking. I’ve been baking up a storm here during this quarantine.

Favorite travel destination: My favorite place I’ve been so far is Positano, Italy. It was gorgeous and the people were just a dream.

Dream travel destination: I want to travel to a new destination every year with my son. The world is our oyster.

What is the first thing you plan to do once our lockdown is lifted?: Maybe go spend the day at the beach and then go out for a nice dinner? Or better yet, start production on one of my next projects…I’ve been going crazy not getting to work.

Best advice anyone has ever given you in business?: It’s not what you know, it’s who you know. I spend a lot of time looking to expand my circle of influence.

Babe Of The Month: Meet The Terribly Terrific Terra Jackson

By Mitzi Valenzuela February 14, 2020

It’s time to meet our latest Babe of the Month here on Rod Authority. Pinup Terra Jackson has been living the dream after moving to sunny California and settling in the great City of Angels. When she’s not posing next to a classic car or checking out what’s under the hood, she can be found breaking a few hearts along the way with her latest singing endeavors.

As much as she loves singing, Terra also loves being able to express herself and finds modeling to be a great way to show her artistic side. This garage gal was lucky to shoot in two fabulous garages for our exclusive here with Rod Authority. The Early Ford Store in San Dimas is not only a car guys dream shop by a photographer’s paradise. Our second location was at Vic’s Garage, who’s a member of Cal Rods and owns several classic buggies and customs, including his most recent purchase of this 1923 T Bucket.

Let’s get to know Rod Authority’s Babe Of The Month for February 2020!

Name: Terra Jackson

Sign: Cancer

Hometown: Niles, Michigan

Current Residence: Los Angeles, California

Hair color: Brown

Eye color: Light brown

Favorite part about living in California? I love the endless opportunities! Anything you could possibly want, or want to see, is in the Golden State.

How did you get into modeling? I have always been drawn to anything artistic, and modeling just seemed to fall in line after years of doing theater. It’s just one more way to express the things I enjoy!

Describe your style? Foxy grandma? Lol. I never really had a description for it. I just wear what I like and how it makes sense to me. It’s always some kind of mash-up of vintage style with a modern twist.

What’s your favorite classic car? I cannot choose a single car; for me, I’m either oogling rat rods or ’60s muscle cars! Not that I don’t love others for different reasons, I am just naturally drawn to these classics.

What was the last car show you attended? I attend many smaller ones as they pop up, but the biggest one most recently was the Mooneyes Xmas Party at Irwindale Speedway.

Any car show plans for the new year? I may or may not drop in at the Viva Las Vegas car show, we’ll see ?

Any travel plans for 2020? I’m hoping to get out to Florida later this year to visit family.

Longest distance you ever traveled by car? Honestly, probably Michigan to Florida and back, lol. It’s such a fun trip though, haha! I want to do Route 66 one of these days!!!

Favorite place to take a road trip? I love to take little road trips out to Palm Springs! I love it out there!

Favorite music to listen to on a rainy day? Throw on some Sinatra!

What new career endeavors have you been involved in? Most recently, I’ve gotten back into singing. With the help of my friend Danny B. Harvey, we’ve recorded my first song, “Fallin,” which is available on iTunes and all that jazz. We are also working on another song to release soon!

What got you started in that? I think I’ve been singing since I was born, but what kickstarted that endeavor was a recording I sent him of myself singing in the car.

Favorite dive bar? I love the Backstage Bar in Culver City, California. It’s always a great time!

Favorite drink? Tequila!

Favorite music to dance to? Motown always gets me moving! I’m from Michigan, so there you have it.

Where can we see more of your work? I am currently working on my website, but my work can be seen on IG @pinupterrajxn and Twitter @terrajxn
