It appeared in two Fast & Furious movies
The Fast & Furious franchise has become a facet of my life for 20-years and inevitably I will be at my local AMC with some popcorn and a Dr. Pepper when the next chapter comes out. I poke fun at the Fast & Furious due to their ludicrous plots and lack of acknowledging physics when doing stunts, but I love them and I will continue to watch every chapter of the saga, even Hobbs and Shaw.
Ultimately it’s the cars that make the movie franchise go, and I tend to remember them more than the plot of each movie. Like I mentioned in my previous article, Where Were You In ’62? The Cars of “American Graffiti”, you can align a car from the movie to each character and Fast & Furious movies does the same characterization.
Dom will always be linked to a Dodge Charger, Brian reflects a Toyota Supra, and so on. Letty, played by Michelle Rodriguez, will be aligned with a Plymouth Barracuda, and one that appeared in FF6 and FF7 is available.
The Pick of the Day is a 1973 Plymouth Barracuda listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Click the link to view the description)
“Starting with a cameo role in Fast & Furious 6, this Cuda went on to a bigger role in Furious 7 as the “hero car.” It’s the only surviving Cuda from the film,” the listing states. “It’s a 1973 Barracuda with a make-up job to look like a ’70 AAR, and it’s actually a great hot rod.”
The listing on the dealer’s website further states that it is “The only surviving Cuda from filming”. Pedigree and movie provenance are included with the sale of the Plymouth Barracuda to verify its claim of Hollywood stardom.
“The car comes with posters and other documentation showing that it’s a genuine movie star, so here are some words from the Hollywood publicists. “[The Cuda] sets the tone for more Mopar fun for “Furious” future,” the listing states.
This Mopar is powered by a 318ci V8 engine with a Weiand intake, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and TTI headers and exhaust. The engine is paired with an automatic transmission with a B&M Shifter featuring a Pistol Grip handle.
The dealer is asking $129,900 for this movie Mopar, which to me seems a bit steep, but can you put a price on loving the Fast & Furious?
