Once upon a time, a weak and sickly dog was found chained up, with no food or water in sight. This poor dog had been silently battling bone cancer for quite some time, without any help or care. The type of cancer it had was called osteosarcoma, which is known to be especially harsh. The dog had suffered due to its limited space on the short chain and the meager diet of scraps and trash it had been given.
The veterinarian confirmed that this kind of cancer often arises from serious injuries and infections. Sadly, the person who reported the situation had witnessed the dog being treated terribly by its intoxicated owner. For years, the dog had been stuck on a short chain in the yard, unable to move around freely.
The owner of the dog refused to give it up to the GWARP rescue team, using legal excuses to keep the dog in his possession. The rescuers were determined to save the dog’s life and even sought help from the police. After much pleading and evidence presented, the owner finally agreed to take the dog to the vet.
The dog urgently needed medical attention, including blood tests and an amputation. Tissue samples were tested to understand the extent of the cancer. Despite the progress made, the GWARP team knew that the road ahead was still long and challenging.
There was a glimmer of hope for the dog, named Jordan, because X-rays revealed that the fast-growing tumor hadn’t yet spread to its lungs. However, the tumor continued to grow, causing damage to the skin.
Jordan was given a soothing bath to wash away the pains of its past and start anew. Unfortunately, the proper treatment for Jordan’s condition wasn’t available in Azerbaijan. The best chance for his recovery was in Turkey, so plans were made to send him there.
In Istanbul, Jordan underwent tests before surgery. The tumor-filled limb was amputated, marking the beginning of his journey to recovery.
Three days after the surgery, Jordan was proving to be a quick learner. He was adjusting well to his new life. His appetite returned, and he eagerly ate the meals prepared for him.
Let’s continue to send our best wishes for Jordan’s speedy recovery and a joyful life ahead. Jordan, you have touched the hearts of everyone who heard your story. You’re truly cherished!
